In Numbers 21, the Israelites faced a deadly challenge. Poisonous snakes had inflicted many with life-threatening bites, yet God provided a way for them to be saved. Moses lifted up a bronze serpent, and those who chose to look up at it were healed. This simple act of faith demonstrated God’s mercy and the life-giving power of trusting Him.
Centuries later, Jesus reveals in John 3 that He is the ultimate fulfillment of this symbol. Just as the Israelites were healed by looking up at the bronze serpent, all who look up to Jesus—lifted high on the cross—receive eternal life. His sacrifice offers not just temporary relief, but complete salvation, healing, and restoration for the soul.
The call to look up is more than a physical action—it is a spiritual posture. When we lift our eyes and hearts to Christ, we open ourselves to His mercy, His power, and His transforming love. Looking up reminds us to trust in His plan, to have faith in His promises, and to embrace the hope He provides.
Every day, life may bring struggles, fear, and uncertainty, but the invitation is the same: look up to Jesus. In doing so, we experience healing, redemption, and the new life that comes only from Him. Let us remember that no matter the challenges we face, looking up brings us closer to His grace, His guidance, and His eternal hope.
