Jesus accepts people with same sex attractions. Lately, there has been a lot of debates about the issue of gay marriage and everyone wants to know whose side you’re on. Are you a Conservative or a Liberal? Republican or Democrat? Or are you a Republicrat? However, within the chaos, there are real people who struggle with being attracted to the same sex. These people are either left hopeless or confused.
Some people tell them to embrace this destructive lifestyle, while others tell them they are an abomination. I am hoping to be neither of those voices but to tell you the truth in love. If you struggle with this or know a family or friend who does, then read on. Here is my message to you.
Dear Friend,
I am not sure what led you here, but statistically, people who struggle with same-sex attraction have dealt with a lot of brokenness in their life. This may have been being molested as a kid or having a father who was either absent, abusive, or emotionally distant. You know brokenness and emotional pain all too well.
Furthermore, you also struggled with feeling alone and isolated and, at times, ridiculed, rejected, and despised. So, I know that this is a sensitive subject, and much of what we hear in the media and in our daily conversation is extremely polarizing and not exactly helpful. One side promotes the secular agenda to embrace your sexual orientation as a normal and God-given gift. On the other hand, some Christians have condemned you to hell-fire for even existing. But there is a God who loves you and accepts you the way you are. He loves you so much that He will not leave you the way you are. There is hope for your redemption and transformation. He made you in His image for so much more, and to ignore Him is to separate yourself from the source of all life.
People can shake their fists at God and do what they want, but they will suffer the consequences of their actions. If I bought a car and the manual clearly stated that I should fill its tank with gas, but I decided to fill it up with diesel because “I just feel like it,” then I will suffer the consequences. Although I can do that and feel in control, the chances of me being able to drive very far are very slim.
In this same way, to accept the secular ideals of the liberal agenda might be empowering for a moment, but there will be a lingering feeling that will never go away. This is how all sin operates; it might be empowering and fun for a while, just to chain you into addictions and brokenness for a lifetime.
Jesus accepts people with same sex attractions.
You were not designed that way. To settle for what feels right for a second, but ignore what you know it is right, has life consequences, as well as eternal ramifications. Current statistics say that one in five homosexual people will contract a sexually transmitted disease. In other words, if you decided to go on a road trip with four other friends and you were told that on that trip one would die, would you still go?
What about the “Gay Gospel” promoters?
There are so-called “churches” and “pastors” who approve of the homosexual lifestyle. These churches are apostates, and these pastors are liars. Such “pastors” do not offer eternal hope but just temporary comfort in exchange for your approval. In a sense, they are flight attendants in a doomed airplane, giving pillows out instead of parachutes. Instead of warning the passengers about the dangers of ignoring the laws of gravity, they attempt to comfort people so that they can all sleep while the plane crashes.
These “pastors” preach a message of self-promotion and deceit. Their message is contrary to the sound doctrine. All they care about is the approval of the crowd, but they don’t care about people who struggle with same-sex attractions. Because if they genuinely cared and loved, they would not twist the gospel to fit their agenda.
Any person who is willing to believe the Bible knows that these pastors are lying. Eventually, they will get a hard lesson in the law of God, just like described in 1 Timothy 1:8.
"Now we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine."
Your body and soul were not intended for the gay lifestyle because homosexuality is not God’s intended design. You were created to be attracted and connect sexually to your polar opposite, just like two magnets with opposite polarities attract and connect. That’s why Jesus says in Mark 10:6,
"from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female. 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh."
Even our bodies biologically, psychologically as well as physiologically testify to this. However, the world we live in and our bodies are groaning under the curse of sin. The enemy took God’s design and perverted it. In this case, he took what was normal and turned it into an abnormality or abomination.
That’s why God condemns it in Leviticus 18:22,
"you shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."
But if you choose to ignore that and do as you “feel” by using sex, unlike the way it was intended, it will break your body and crush your soul. Bellow Is Jackie Hill’s story of the brokenness this sin caused her and how God saved her.
Furthermore, just like any sin, to live in that lifestyle is to ignore Jesus’ sacrifice for you and his lordship over you. This will have eternal ramifications; namely, you will spend eternity apart from God’s presence. In 1 Corinthians 6: 9 it says,
“the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Jesus accepts people with same sex attractions.
But there is hope because verse eleven says, “and such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
You too can be washed!
“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”
Regardless of what a person’s secret sin is, the enemy constantly bombards us with messages of hopelessness. So perhaps you grew up with the idea that you are weird and hated; likewise, this was only confirmed by the comments and the “gay jokes” you heard from Christians and non-Christians alike. But I want to inform you that faithful followers of Christ do not look down upon your differences because they are constantly aware of their own sins and shortcomings. True followers of Christ see all sinners, including themselves, in the same boat, saved by the mercy and grace of the same Savior. We all struggle with sin, some more than others, but in the end, none of us deserve His grace. We were loved and accepted by Him long before we loved and accepted ourselves. The Gospel message of Jesus was never, “Change to be loved and accepted by God,” but instead, it has always been, “You are loved and accepted; therefore, you will change.”
You, too, can be sanctified.
Homosexuality is a direct result in rejecting God and settling for idolatry instead. In Romans 1:21 it says,
“ For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26 for this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”
That’s why to reverse this brokenness; you have to go to the cause or the root sin, which is idolatry. To see a lasting deliverance and transformation, you have to accept the lordship of God in your life and fully commit to being exclusively consecrated to him.
God’s will is not to just turn you straight, but it is more than that; it is holiness and becoming like His son Jesus (see Romans 8:28-29.) I would encourage you not to measure your progress on how attracted you are to the opposite sex, but rather how much you are becoming like Jesus. This is because what transforms a person is not self-help, but rather beholding the Glory of Jesus as described in 2 Corinthians 3:18
“and we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

This is because what transforms a person is not self-help, but rather beholding the Glory of Jesus as described in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “and we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
To behold God’s glory is to see Jesus as He is. That is to seek His face daily and to spend time getting to know Him every day. He ministers to you every day; you will begin to transform and become more like him every day. He will change your heart and transform you entirely by renewing your mind. That means you will start to think differently. As the heart and mind are changed, your feelings will follow too. There will still be temptations from time to time, but the Holy Spirit will be right there to help you and carry you through. Also, remember that temptations are not sins; Jesus himself was tempted with different things. It becomes a sin when we start to dwell on the sin, meaning when our thoughts become lustful and perverting God’s original intent. You can choose not to act on them or think about them just like any other temptation.

You, too, can be justified!
Once you are in Jesus, you will be fully justified. Maybe you did not have control over the situation that led you to your lifestyle now; maybe you did. However, like any sinner, Jesus took on your sin and crucified it at the cross, and because of that, you no longer have to feel shame and guilt over it. It is vital to note that, while Jesus took your sin and done away with it at the cross, you will have to carry your own cross and follow him and crucify all your other passions on it. It is also important not to be discouraged or prideful when people call you names or make fun of you. The work God started in you, He will bring to completion. When at last in eternity you do come before God, the Judge, like every sinner you will be accused of your sin by the enemy. However, if you are in Jesus and followed Him you have nothing to worry about. You will be victorious in conquering the enemy by the blood of Jesus and by the word of your testimony, like in Revelation 12:11.
1) Make a decision to leave that lifestyle and repent.
2) Ask God to be the Lord of your life as well as be filled with the Holy Spirit.
3) Read the Bible, meditate on God’s word and pray about everything.
4) Find a pastor and a Christian counselor who can mentor you and help you.
5) Find a church where you can grow.
6) Find Godly friends that will encourage you on your Journey.
